The Intel D975XBX2 motherboard is not the latest or greatest by any means. However, it has a good reputation amongst OSX86 hackers. My main reasons for purchase were:
- Good overclocking capabilities - I needed to squeeze more value out of the E4300
- Stability for OSX86 based on reports at Insanely Mac and other sites
- Support for Quad core when I'm ready to upgrade
- Those flame-effect heat sinks are totally rad!
As one of my main concerns was noise, I needed a graphics card that didn't have one of those whiny fans. I went for the XFX 7600GT based on the silent heat sink and the fact that all I needed was mid-range performance.
